Original Japanese color woodblock print by Utagawa Hiroshige (1797-1858). Date: c.1832. 
Series: ' 53 Stations of the Tokaido' (Tōkaidō Gojūsan-tsugi). 
Tokaido serie No. 50. Title: 'Tsuchiyama, haru no ame' (Spring Rain at Tsuchiyama). 
Signed: Hiroshige ga. Publisher: Hoeido. Kiwame censor seal in the left margin. 
Oban yoko-e size: 9 1/3" x 14 1/2" inches. Good impression, color and condition. 
Slightly soiled, some minor repairs and very slightly backed. 
Good margins and no centerfold.

The head of a daimyo's procession crossing a torrent by a bridge towards the village, secluded in a grove of trees, 
under a heavy downpour of rain. This station, situated in the mountain forest, was known for its exuberant spring rainfall. 
Against heavy rain, wearing green and red raincoats the front of the procession of a feudal lord is crossing a small bridge
spanning a torrent, surrounded by high Japanese cypress (or cryptomeria) trees.
