Oban yoko-e size: 13 2/5” x 9 1/5” inches. Series: ‘Enseki zasshi’. Fine impression, color and very good condition.
Very slight (barely visible) vertical centerfold. Minor wear and soiling, marks and flaws.

“An obtrusive samurai grabs a courtesan around the neck while licking her cheek. His colleague is more interested in the lower part of her body. The screen painting in the background features a horse made in the Kanō style of painting.”

“A tantalising erotic piece portraying a determined male wearing a black kimono who is about to penetrate the enticed female passenger. The masked bandit, who is sitting in the portable litter (kago), is observing the activities of his acquaintance.”

“A striking and distinguishing design featuring shunga within shunga. This may have been a self-advertisement by the artist himself, promoting shunga as a source of sexual knowledge to individuals and couples, and it’s ability to arouse desire.”

“An unusual design in which Kuniyoshi went back in the history of shunga and portrays an abuna-e (risky picture) of a couple in the primitive style (most probably inspired on the great Moronobu) while using the modern printing techniques (metallic pigments) of his time.”
