Antique Japanese color woodblock Kuniyoshi (1797-1861). Shunga (Erotic picture). Date: c.1830s.
Oban yoko-e size: 10 1/2" x 15" inches. Fine impression (with gauffrage and metallic pigments), very good color and condition. Full size. A very slight vertical centerfold. Very minor rubbing, soiling and creasing, marks and flaws.
Two intimate lovers with the woman wiping of the sweat of the man's head. Look for the subtle and tender detail of the woman's right foot grabbing the man's back !A nice shunga design with a blue dripping frieze above !

Two palanquin bearers (kumosuke) assault a couple who are in the middle of an insatiable (look for the numerous tissues !) intercourse session.They are pushing the male lover (a samurai) away with the intention of raping the woman !

Antique Japanese color woodblock Utagawa school. Shunga (Erotic picture). Egoyomi (Calendar print). Date: c.1855.
Koban size: 4 7/8" x 3 5/8" inches. Fine impression (with gauffrage), color and condition. Flawless state !
Subject: Abalone (awabi) diver being ravished by a giant octopus.
The humour of this image lies in the fact that the octopus wears a white head scarf of a commoner.
Either this depiction is the imagination of the woman or the octopus represents the male lover who sees himself as the tremendous lover that octopuses are purported to be.
